Carina DuMarce

A member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, Carina is an Indigiqueer storyteller & educator based in Omaha, NE. 



Carina rolled into Omaha for a Fellowship at the Rose Theater in 2018 and continued their work creating with young people and their families as the Rose Theater’s Associate Director of Outreach. In 2024, Carina left the Rose in pursuit of connecting with multi-generational learners. Carina is now an educator and learner of food sovereignty, self sufficiency, and community– uplifting the intersection between food and storytelling.

As a director and playwright, Carina’s work has been seen in Fargo, ND; Sisseton, SD; and Omaha, NE. On stage, Carina has had the opportunity to bring characters to life in Giraffes Can’t Dance (Gerald), a retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, titled Darkness Like a Dream (Hermia), Peter and the Starcatcher (Smee), By a Thread (Falon Enapay) and Red Riding Hood (Delivery Person). Carina was most recently seen as ‘Greta’ in Anastasis Theater Co. and Great Plains Theater Commons collaboration on Ways to Win the Woods by Ellen Struve.

Carina’s dream for the future is to continue to make space for Indigenous voices to share their stories in immersive, community centered settings – breaking down the theatrical colonial mindset one straw at a time.
