Kathleen Piper

Kathleen Piper is a happily retired business owner and public servant – now a fulltime volunteer for Anastasis Theatre Co and her family. Since its inception, Kathleen and her husband Jim (now deceased) hold close ties to Anastasis Theatre Co. through their daughter Haley Haas.  Kathleen shares all the values and social justice commitment of this non-profit theater company.

 

Kathleen and Jim owned a flower business in Yankton SD before their retirement to Omaha. In addition to business activities, Kathleen was a community activist and county commissioner where much of her work involved advocating for change in the juvenile justice system and keeping persons with mental health issues from incarceration & ensuring their placement in appropriate treatment programs. 


She served on the Lewis & Clark Mental Health Center Board, the Yankton Federal Prison Camp Advisory Board and the SD Human Services Center Community Advisory Board. Her community and business activities led to an appointment with the US Small Business Administration where she served first as Region VIII Administrator and then 17 years as Deputy Director of the SBA Nebraska District Office.
